Remington Hospitality to Manage Newly Renovated La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection

NOVEMBER 2023

Formerly Crowne Plaza La Concha Hotel, the Newly Rebranded Property Will Join the Marriott Portfolio

Remington Hospitality today announces the rebranding of Crowne Plaza La Concha Hotel in Key West, Florida, to La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection. Remington Hospitality, which managed the property previously, will continue its reputation of excellence in conjunction with sister company Premier, which is spearheading the renovation's interior design, procurement, and project management. The project is slated for completion in early 2024.

Boasting a vibrant history deeply intertwined with the island's heritage, La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection is a National Historic Landmark located in the heart of the Downtown Historic District of Old Key West. The 160-room rebranded hotel will unveil a chic, modern aesthetic that beautifully captures the lively, tropical essence of Key West. The transformation not only breathes new life into the property but also pays tribute to the notable guests, including literary icons like Ernest Hemingway, Tennessee Williams, and former President Harry Truman. The hotel blends contemporary style with a nod to its storied past, creating an inviting space that resonates with both modern sensibilities and the allure of Key West's legacy.

"The newly refreshed space showcases a design that seamlessly harmonizes the Autograph Collection brand with the timeless charm of Key West," said Sloan Dean, Remington's Chief Executive Officer. "We can't wait for guests to experience this unique destination that embodies the vibrancy and relaxation that the Florida Keys offers."

La Concha Key West, Autograph Collection provides guests with modern amenities, including a newly renovated pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a rooftop lounge with breathtaking city views. Remington will also be managing three unique culinary and beverage experiences, all inspired by the local Cuban influence and Spanish culture:

Perla, Spanish for "pearl," reimagines Cuban cuisine through the vibrant lens of Key West, creating unique dishes and modern takes on traditional plates. Perla's elevated yet laid back atmosphere is the perfect place to celebrate special occasions and the everyday treasures of the Keys.

Tropicado, a mojito bar, provides guests with a relaxed, approachable setting for crafted classic drinks and light bites. The inventive mashup of "tropical" and the Spanish suffix "ado" implies "how we feel." Tropicado is more than a bar; it is a state of being and a way of life.

El Dom, a Cuban-inspired cafe named after the popular game, offers a fun, relaxed atmosphere to enjoy coffee or indulge in traditional dishes like Cuban sandwiches and peccadillos.

Centrally located in Old Town's major attractions, guests can easily walk to local beaches, shopping, entertainment, nightlife, and other outdoor activities, including diving and water sports. The hotel is also closely located to other landmarks, including Mallory Square, The Hemingway Home and Museum, the Truman Little White House, and the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum.

Remington Hospitality and Chesapeake Hospitality Combine to Accelerate Growth Momentum

APRIL 2022

Remington Hospitality acquires Chesapeake's expertise and legacy of excellence as the company expands national operations

DALLAS, April 18, 2022 — Remington Hospitality, a dynamic and growing hotel management company, has acquired Chesapeake Hospitality's hotel management expertise, and legacy of excellence. With 65 years of experience helping hotel owners and real estate investors in the eastern United States discover their properties' full potential, Chesapeake joins Remington Hospitality with a complementary vision and mission.

The acquisition expands Remington's footprint to Midwestern markets, including Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Detroit, and St. Louis. Additionally, Remington will expand its portfolio of IHG and independent properties in several locations and will manage its first Wyndham property. Though the two companies will be operating under the Remington Hospitality brand, all former Chesapeake hotels will remain under the same management and can expect the same exceptional service.

Chesapeake has a long and storied reputation as a results-driven, culture-forward, high-performance organization with an eye for helping clients achieve their full potential through exceptional guest experiences. Chesapeake was built on a legacy of creating asset value by performing deep turnarounds, re-branding, and re-positioning, which is critical in the competitive, post-pandemic hotel management marketplace. Joining Remington will unlock expanded resources that will take what clients love about Chesapeake and supercharge it, driving hotel success and enhanced profitability. Chris Green — Chesapeake's current CEO who joined Chesapeake over 21 years ago — will serve as Divisional President of Remington.

"I'm so proud that Chesapeake is joining Remington, a company that is known for its stellar results and has made a real cultural shift in the hotel management space," said Chris Green, Divisional President of Remington Hospitality. "This partnership will be a practice in blending two companies that have operated in different geographical lanes and have a steadfast commitment to doing what is best for their clients and employees. I'm looking forward to taking the service our clients know and love to the next level as we access the resources Remington has to offer."

Committed to thoughtful company growth, Remington Hospitality has been pursuing an organization with similar standards and strengths with which to partner. Chesapeake and Remington are both defined by their core values as much as their core competencies. With Chesapeake's tagline being "experience what's possible" and Remington's being "where passionate people thrive," the two companies are fully aligned and are both associate-focused, ultimately providing better hotel owner and guest service.

"Though the hospitality space has faced massive challenges over the past few years, Remington has remained steadfast in its commitment to being the best hotel manager in the industry," said Remington President and CEO Sloan Dean. "By melding Chesapeake's culture and know-how with ours, we'll be able to cultivate even stronger relationships with our properties' owners by providing them with more resources, better economies of scale, and a more satisfying guest experience."

With the completion of this transaction, Remington Hospitality will have a portfolio of 121 managed properties under contract in 28 states and Washington, D.C. As a result of the acquisition, Remington's mix of third party hotels will increase from approximately 20 percent to approximately 40 percent. The combined company will be headquartered in Dallas and oversee all day-to-day operations of the entire national portfolio of properties. The same management teams will still be in place to deliver the same level of service owners and guests expect.

Rumor has it that there was a speakeasy downstairs during the Prohibition Era, and some say you can still hear the ghosts of those days haunting the building today!

Remington Hospitality Leads the industry forward in Post Covid-19 response

MAY 2020

Program includes enhanced cleaning procedures and revised employee training programs

DALLAS (May 4, 2020) - Remington Hospitality, a leading third-party management company that operates 78 hotels in 24 states across the United States, is rolling out new guidelines for all properties that include enhanced cleaning protocols and updated training systems, in addition to collaborating on best practices with multiple brand partners including Marriott and Hilton, to protect the wellbeing of guests and associates in response to COVID-19.

"Remington Hospitality is rolling out a multi-pronged approach to address necessary safety and cleaning measures in response to COVID-19. These measures include enhanced cleaning and safety protocols across all 87 hotels, a revised training program for all Remington Hospitality associates and a revamped approach to food & beverage," says Rob Carl, Remington Hospitality' VP of Facilities and Capital Planning and appointed lead for the company's COVID-19 Response Committee.

As part of the company's response, Remington Hospitality aligned with an industrial hygienist to develop a COVID-19 mitigation program for all hotels that outlines procedures in the event of a guest or associate being infected. As well, each Remington Hospitality property is now utilizing EPA-registered disinfectant products with proven efficacy in killing respiratory viruses, including COVID-19. Additional steps taken to enhance cleaning procedures include:

  • Public Areas: All hotels have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting public spaces, with an emphasis on disinfecting protocol focused on "high touch" areas including door handles, public bathrooms, reception, stairwells, lobby furnishings/hard surfaces, guest laundry facilities, elevators and push buttons, corner pantries and bell carts.
  • Food & Beverage: Food offerings have been converted to prepared grab and go bags not to be consumed in public areas of hotels.
  • Guest Rooms: In addition to thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting rooms between guest departures and arrivals, Remington Hospitality utilizes OpenKey as a "contactless" digital entry tool that limits guest and employee contact. The brand also offers Pure Rooms at all properties, to promote wellbeing in the guest rooms by providing purified air, hypoallergenic environments and allergy-friendly options.

The health, safety and knowledge of Remington Hospitality' associates are imperative to an effective cleaning program. To meet these criteria, the company has adopted the following heightened protocol:
